OMG. So crackers tried to take down the Internet yesterday. Seriously. Mashable says so.
These crackers created a DDoS attack, where they employ a massive botnet of computers using people’s machines as zombies to bombard a URL until it crashes out the servers. Why? They wanted to take down one of the Internet’s defenders, Spamhaus, which helps keep spam out of your inbox.
Crazy. Luckily they were prepared. Spamhaus used this cool system called Cloudflare that spread the attack around, so instead of one-two punch, it felt more like a flurry of slaps to Spamhaus.
